The most important attribute of a cord used for Prusik Hitches is consistency in handling and diameter. Once you have determined the Prusik Hitch that works best on your host rope, it is important to achieve the same performance every time it is replaced. CMC Rescue Prusik Cord has the right balance of suppleness for reliable activation, but is not so soft that it wears out rapidly. Made of nylon with a torque-free kernmantle construction, it comes in solid colours to differentiate between cords designed for Prusik Hitches and climbers’ accessory cords. Two colour choices in the 7 mm and 8 mm diameters allow separate colours for each length of Prusik Belay System. The 9 mm diameter is the size preferred by rescuers who use a load releasing hitch. These cords are available by the metre or spool.
