Ford Response Vehicle
This MK5 modular body was redesigned and developed in 2002 for the West
Australian Ambulance Service and the mining industry, which covers all
country towns and metropolitan areas. The body interior has been ergonomically
designed for patient and medical staff comfort. The cab/chassis, which
is imported as a 7.3 ltr V8 turbo diesel 4x2 automatic, is ideal for country
and city emergencies.
The Ford F Series is available in right hand drive, two wheel drive, or
four wheel drive configuration diesel or petrol engines. The construction
of the modular frame is of aluminium, with sound insulation between the
inner and outer skins. The vehicle comes with a waterproof and non-slip
flooring which is sealed from dust. A twin air-conditioner and battery
system is supplied and fitted. Twin fuel tanks or an extra large tank are
also fitted for extra travelling distance. Twin stretchers and one medical
attendant seat make up the twin berth, and the single stretcher and one
medical attendant seat and two swivel seats make up the other berth. A
large full interior side locker carries full medical equipment and oxygen-resuscitation/defibrillation
equipment. The vehicle has exterior side lockers that carry easily accessible
equipment. ambulance warning devices and markings are available in any
configuration. This vehicle has been the mainstay of the Ambulance Service
as a response, intensive care, paramedic and patient transfer vehicle.
